Scientific Advisory Committee
The EEPC is continuously seeking new recruits for their Scientific Advisory Committee. This Committee currently consists of environmental engineers, urban ecologists, and quantitative ecologists from government, academia, and industry.
Dr. Michael A. Tabak - Chair
Michael is a Research Scientist from the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada), who previously worked with the USDA Center for Epidemiology and Animal Health (USDA-CEAH) as a Quantitative Ecologist. Michael earned a BS in Biology and also Philosophy from Vanderbilt University, and a PhD in Ecology from the University of Wyoming – Department of Zoology & Physiology. While working with the USDA, Michael developed statistical and mathematical models to conduct biological research. He specializes in utilizing a combination of hierarchical Bayesian modeling approaches, including epidemiological models, machine learning models, dynamic occupancy models, integrated population models, and transient population dynamic models.
Dr. S. Rao Chitikela - Vice-Chair
Consultant - Water, Energy, & Environment
Rao currently is a consultant on water, energy, and environmental specialties, providing training on water and wastewater, taught EHS at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, and a proven contact on sustainability & resiliency of design and implementation of projects. Rao obtained his BE, MTech, and PhD in Civil Engineering. Rao has over 30 years of experience, and previously worked for the State of Delaware, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) as an Environmental Engineer, assisting with air permitting and compliance inspections of power plants, the evaluation of air contaminant control devices, and provided technical papers on critical environmental compliance topics. He is a registered professional engineer (PE/PEng) and certified by the AAEES-Board.
